4g speed

I've just upgraded to a nice new Sony Z2 with a 4g contract. I've done a few speed tests in London and I'm a bit disappointed with the results. The max speed I've seen is 12mbps download and 1.2mbps upload. Those look like 3g speeds to me.

How do I know whether I'm actually getting 4g, and what speeds should I expect to see? I would expect to get at least 20mbps download and 10mbps upload minimum in a good 4g area...

Nice 4G speeds.

Be aware that running speed tests can eat approx 40mb+ of data.

4G speeds aren't the same everwhere.

4G in my area of Coventry is around 20mbps the highest we've seen recorded is around 50mbps.

Just wait till more people get onto 4G, you'll probably see your speed drop as mine has in London, currently 17.9 Mbps down 7.8 Mbps up

Cracking speeds. I also tend to use Ookla like you but sometimes it will use just a few mb and other times it will use 40+. On my home broadband it uses 90mb.

So the advice would remain to be cautious regarding frequent speed tests especially if you only have a small data allowance.
