WiFi text messaging when abroad

Anonymous
Not applicable

Now that TuGo is being cancelled I have changed over to the wifi calling feature, which was OK until I went to India and now I have no wifi calls or texts as wifi calling does not work outside the UK.

Is there a way I can retreive my text messages from my O2 number over wifi now that I do not have TuGo?

Texts are always free to receive so you could connect to the mobile network to check if you have received any.
Make sure data is fully off though to ensure no data is used whilst doing this.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Hello @Anonymous,

As they said, O2's Wifi Calling service doesn’t currently support the ability to send/receive SMS when there is no cellular coverage available.  fingers_crossed

Thanks @adamtemp64 and @MI5 for the help heartHero

I am can only suggest you use the likes of Skype and WhatsApp, Messanger etc to those contacts that use any of them too. No way ideal but with no network signal you would be in the same situation without wifi calling unless you would have used TU on contract. Unfortunately changing to wifi calling has deleted TU if had it prior to your changing.
