My 17 year old daughter is going to the USA with her school. Does anyone know the best way to keep phone charges down while she’s there? Do I need to phone up to do anything or can she just use her phone now really? I’m sorry if I sound daft but I haven’t got a clue. Thank you

@Moo52

Depends on tariff.

@Moo52 Make sure both you and she have WhatsApp on your phones, and anyone else in the UK she wants to keep in contact with too. If she uses the app over a WiFi connection she can call, text, and video call anyone anywhere in the world for free. Same goes for you if you want to contact her while she's in the US.

I DO NOT WORK FOR O2

@Bambino's answer would get my vote too, @Moo52.

You can buy a 30-day US SIM from Amazon before she travels, and activate it on arriving - this means there will be cellular data when she is out and about, if needed. There are plenty of places where free WiFi is available, though, so not a necessity. Good luck!
