Sim Swap

Anonymous
Not applicable

Ok, this is getting ridiculous. Been on chats with O2 4 times now. How hard is it to swap a bloody sim card??? No Service now for almost 24 hours. The original sales guy told me that all I had to do was swap the sim when it came in the post and to relax and do nothing. It would all happen automatically. Yeah right. Anymore bs and I'm closing my accounts with O2 and moving to another network.

Hi,

It can take upto approx 24 hours and occasionally longer if the network is busy ,for the service to settle and return.

Turning your phone off and on helps this along.

It could be that the blank sim you have is faulty too.

You could pick another up at your most local o2 shop or have one posted.

Live Chat will tell you what the status of your swapmysim is.

If you do leave then ensure your newly chosen network gives you good signal where you live, work and commute.  I always advise trying out their payg sims for a week or so just to make sure.

Consider having your phone unlocked so you can use it on your new network, as a back up phone or to sell on.

Its free to contract customers and £15 to payg {t&c apply}

Hi bandofbrothers,

Thanks for the standard blurb. If i could get on to live chat, I would. O2's signal isn't great where I live and work. So it can only get better with a different network. 24hrs is a long time to swap a sim. Surely this is all done by a computer and inputting a few commands? Why I needed a new sim when the old one worked perfectly fine, is beyond me.

What irks me. Is the sales guy and chat people have continuously ensured me that I had to do nothing, it would all happen automatically. Not the case at all, as I've seen so far.

Thanks.

You came here for help and advice which i gave.

Live Chat is working fine as ive just been using it, however its best to speak to Uk Customer services on 202 contract or 4445 payg for account based enquiries.

You've not explained in your original post why you are performing a swapmysim so I cant comment.

Alternatives such as Tugo for pay monthly or viber, Whatsapp, BBM, Snapchat are alternatives whilst your at home if you have home wifi broadband .

"So it can only get better with a different network" is not always the case.

This is wrong as MI5 asked, have you applied for a sim swap, if not nothing will happen?

You don't need to contact O2 as the swap can be done here and moves your number from the old one to the new one, all quite simple really:

Sims are not sent out activated for obvious reasons.
