O2 network signal

I am having problems with O2 signal on my iphone. I live in an area which usually gives a strong 5 bar signal, but it appears to have failed. I have had no signal for over 6 hours. Has anyone else had this experience?

Hi John,

I posted a similar message at the same time as you!

Where abouts are you? We've had no signal for hours in LS21 area

Hi John,

Let's stick to your thread or it could get confusing!

Presume it can't be widespread or there would be a flood of posts on here.

Tried ringing O2 from landline, but they don't appear to provide any customer service after 9pm!

Yet another in a very long line of reasons to look at other networks when this contract runs out.

Yes, Dan, good idea to keep it on one thread.

I tried to phone O2 customer services from landline over 2 hours ago. I was told by recorded voice that my call is in a queue. After 5 mins I hung up - as this is a premium rate call.

It does seem to be something more than a local problem.

Hi John,

O2's customer service isnt a premium rate number, its a standard local rate one, as for the fault, it could be several things, from a power failure at the cell site to a cable issue, but have you moved out of your area to see if the fault is still apparent??

Hi Tony,

Thanks for the info. Sorry about being mistaken with the customer services number. Re the fault, all I know is that there has been no signal now for nearly 8 hours. I tried in indoors and outdoors and still no signal. Maybe it's a coincidence that both myself in North Wales and Dan in Yorkshire are experiencing the same problem at the same time.

I shall just have to go to bed and hope the problem has resolved itself by the morning.

Thanks for this sheepdog. I tried rebooting and still makes no difference. Unless the O2 network is down, the only other problem could be the weather. I have know the signal to be weak or down in cloudy weather, particularly in low cloud. It has been snowing in the night and still snowing now, so maybe that's the problem.

There was still no signal when I got up this morning so I phoned O2 customer service line and they told me they were not aware of any problem in my area. They asked me to re-boot the phone which I had already done. Then they suggested the problem is likely to be a faulty sim card and advised me to go to an O2 store to get in replaced.

On my way to the store about 9.30 the signal returned, so it was a problem with the network. It snowed here all night and early this morning, so I think that may have affected it. I have noticed before that the weather can affect mobile networks.
