Samsung account won't sync!

Anonymous

My Galaxy Ace 2 has "lost" my contacts and is only showing those from Facebook or google or my sim...none of the ones I have added the most info to such as addresses, birthdays, etc, which I gather are my samsung ones. When I go to try and sync my samsung account the sync option is greyed out. Any idea how I can un-grey it, or retrieve my contacts from wherever they may have been backed up to by samsung? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks.

When in the contacts app select menu then "contacts to display" What have you got ticked in there ?

Everything is ticked at the moment! I've tried un-ticking each account one by one e.g. Facebook, google, phone, sim etc but still no luck! It's like they have just disappeared! 😞

Most strange - When did they disappear? Does that coincide with you doing anything else? Changing sim cards, account, tariff, new app or anything at all?

I've never tried to sign into my google account online, so I don't even know where to look to see if my contacts are there. Sorry! When I add a new contact to my phone it gives me a choice as to where I save it, the ones I have chosen to save to my google account are showing on my phone, but the ones I have chosen to save to my phone aren't! Does that make any sense?

I only noticed that they have disappeared today when I went to call my Mum and she wasn't in my contacts anymore!! The only thing I can think is that I was trying to make my phone faster by deleting some of the apps I don't use and changing the sync settings so it wasn't trying to update everything automatically...but that was days ago and I've not noticed any problems with my contacts until today...my husband had to get a replacement S4 a couple of months ago and he said his contacts were backed-up automatically somewhere and when he started his new phone up it asked him if he wanted to restore them and he said he did and it just did it automatically! Perhaps I should upgrade to an S4 next month when I can?!

Makes sense, basically the phonebook stored on the phone has been wiped.

It seems to be a problem how your google account is set up but @MI5 is better qualified to check this for you.

Try signing into gmail on your pc.

Ouch! Where would the phone book stored on the phone be? Is there a way to see if it is still there or not?
