Dialing *#*#4636#*#* brings up a troubleshooting/statistics menu page. Dial that and select Phone information and at the bottom you can enter the SMSC (Short Mail Service Center) number.

It wasn't in set up as above those 2 lines are missing , but the problem has now been solved,by this solution

My phone is the google nexus 4 which updated to JB 4.21 and one other significant difference my menu is black on white whereas yours is white on black-very strange! I can see others getting this problem of sms/mms.I also have a nexus7 running same firmware,yet there are some apps which will work on one but not the other.Once again thankyou all
