Dialing *#*#4636#*#* brings up a troubleshooting/statistics menu page. Dial that and select Phone information and at the bottom you can enter the SMSC (Short Mail Service Center) number.

there is no provision in app settings to enter messaging centre number

You need to scroll down the settings page...... Message Centre, but you need to input the PAYG number as posted above.

It wasn't in set up as above those 2 lines are missing , but the problem has now been solved,by this solution

Dialing *#*#4636#*#* brings up a troubleshooting/statistics menu page. Dial that and select Phone information and at the bottom you can enter the SMSC (Short Mail Service Center) number.

Thankyou all for your efforts and getting me back on track,I would never have sussed it without you all.

A big gold badge for jonsie there! Smiley LOL

I'm a bit puzzled as MI5 showed it, unless he was using a different phone.

My phone is the google nexus 4 which updated to JB 4.21 and one other significant difference my menu is black on white whereas yours is white on black-very strange! I can see others getting this problem of sms/mms.I also have a nexus7 running same firmware, yet there are some apps which will work on one but not the other.Once again thankyou all
