Hi all,
I hope somebody can help with this.
I have an HTC One M9 running Marshmallow. Seemingly for no particular reason last night I started to get a message flash up saying "Unforunately Google Play Services has stopped" with the options "OK" or report. Pressing either cleared the message briefly. This is constant, I cannot get rid of this message!
I Googled the problem & have tried every suggestion. I've force stopped play services & cleared the cache. Deleted & reset my Google account. Uninstalled & reinstalled play services. Even done a factory reset. Nothing has worked. As soon as it's rebooted the message is back, returning as soon as it's cleared. The phone asked to update play services, which I did, & guess what. It's still there.
The phone is virtually unusable at the moment as I don't get enough time between the messages to do anything & none of the Google apps will work without play services running.

Thanks MI5. I've tried that, unfortunately still the same.
Strangely when I did the last factory reset play services had disappeared when the phone booted, nowhere to be found? I downloaded a copy from apk mirror & installed that. Immediately I got "play services has stopped" The phone then asked to update play services, which I did. Again immediately after the message is back.
Starting to feel like I'm going round in circles! By the way, I did see a couple of messages from December saying that Google knows of a problem with play services & is working on a fix. Haven't found any more than that. Anybody else heard of this?

Something is badly wrong here, you shouldn't have to sideload with an apk. Factory reset for sure.

Definitely a factory reset. Once the factory reset has been done, check the phone itself for any software/firmware updates to make sure it's on the latest available version.
It may also be worth trying a different google account, just in case something is wrong with the original google account

I've just done a factory reset & again play services has disappeared! I get notification that I need to install play services but can't as neither google account setup or play store will work without it.

Unfortunately none of the above worked. I spoke to an O2 guru, probably the less said about that the better!
I've now rooted it with Cyanogenmod 13, reinstalled all the Google apps & it's perfect.
Thanks for all your help anyway
