Scrap that brought phone from amazon
That helps explain things a bit - when a phone comes directly from O2 (O2 website, O2 store, O2 telesales) it will arrive with an O2 build of the software and it will be reliant on new updates from the 'O2 update channel'. If your phone came from Amazon, this very likely won't be on the O2 update channel and will more likely be on an open market update channel - these aren't updates we control unfortunately, so there's very little we can do from that perspective we're afraid.
If you've modified your phone (rooted it or installed an unofficial ROM) then this may have killed any update channel for you I'm afraid

I bought my husbands S6 from Amazon 4 weeks ago. Marshmallow installed as soon as he charged it up for the first time...He has an O2 sim only contract..
