Text active to 2020, save the response and reboot.
If that does not work try resetting your phones network settings

the reply was " sorry we're busy right now", phoned help desk - was told he had set something at his end and said keep restarting my phone should be ok within 48 hours, now 72 and no mobile data, will probably have to phone again, either that or look for another provider

Proxy, Port : Please leave blank
Username - o2web (PAYG - payandgo)
Password - password

That worked, thank you, I was told via emails leading up to the migration - that no action was required on my part. Maybe the phone support should know this solution.
