Resolved! In USA, phone won’t dial voicemail

I’m in the USA and my phone shows I have a voicemail but when I press the voicemail button it tries calling the number but never connects. Any ideas and are there other ways to retrieve voicemails? Thanks

eSim lock

Using an Android s22, I have been happily using my O2 eSim for the last six months. Is there an equivalent Sim lock I can use similar to a regular sim ?The phone has a setting for a sim lock but I am loathe to try it ,'just in case.'Thanks.
