Try the Virgin Forum.
I have to say even the latest version of the app. (After waiting 18 months for an update) has more bugs than the Natural History Museum.

The Virgin Connect App, is meant for the WiFi Pods and for testing WiFi in home from the hub,
It has nothing to do with your mobile device and hotspots...

Just turn on your mobile hotspot in your phone settings.

I assume you are talking about the section in the app that allows you to connect to Virgin Hotspots around and about.
You don't need a Virgin Mobile SIM, just a Virgin Media account and register connected on you home WiFi.
I managed to get it registered and I have Vodafone and O2 on this phone.

Thanks for your feedback. Using the Connect app I can see my Virgin Media account is set up but get 'Install unsuccessful' msg when I try to set up 'WiFi on the go'. Also can see 'Profile not installed' msg. Not sure what to do next.

Have you tried unisntalling the app, and then reinstalling at all?
That is one for VirginMedia Customer Services, who can be contacted on 0345 454 1111

Yes, I've uninstall & reinstalled several times, all with same result.

Thanks for the thought, I'll give that a go.
(Virgin themselves directed me to O2!)
