Swapping phones

Hi

Its been a while since I've changed phones.  Im only swapping from an iPhone 8 - 10Xr....but can't remember if I can just transfer all my stuff over - and simply pop in my old sim card into the new(er)! unlocked phone....and away I go, or If I need to contact o2?

You can do it all via the App on iPhones via iCloud when you setup the XR, and you just pop in your current sim and away you go..
