I’m sending a text messages to a friend in Ireland and instead of my name or number showing at the top of the text, “InfoSMS” is showing up.
He said it did not go into our regular messages thread, instead to a new thread. Why is my number showing as “InfoSMS” ?

Apart from InfoSMS being a mass-messaging agent, apparently, it seems others are reporting it since Christmas Day on SMS from the UK to anywhere outside of the UK.
Is there anything from O2 side on this, @Martin-O2 or @Breanna or @RafaC?

Yeah he contacted his network provider and they told him that the InfoSMS display name with missing return phone number is coming from the senders side, ie. the message is received exactly how it is sent.

Here is another report I found from 3 days ago from someone with an android phone.

Has anyone from o2 looked into this? Or if anyone reading this has friends in Ireland they could maybe send a quick text to just to see if is received as InfoSMS? It would be great to narrow this down to see if it’s an o2 network issue

Has anyone got any answers to this problem yet?

No one from O2 here on the forum now, all removed on the summer.
I've not seen any reports on this

Not really - it could be an issue when networks are busy, say at New Year, as network operators deal with a rush of messages, or it could be the app or software used to write and send the message: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/skype/forum/all/sms-from-skype-shows-infosms-as-sender-not-the/7...
No definitive answer yet, @stevebrannigan9 - but Google searches show many ways this could happen, especially at times of peak demand or load.
