Data issues / no data on 3G

Hi all! About 2 years ago I had issues with roaming in Italy-  I couldn’t get any data at all and my phone would not connect to any 3G networks.  Through this forum I got some help to fix that issue, I could roam again, but since then I’ve had issues with not being able to use data on 3G in the UK. That has progressed to having data issues with 4G and 5G- the signal constantly drops out. My partner has an O2 phone and can be next to me on full bars of 5G signal but my phone is on 3G with no data. It got so bad that I upgraded my phone to see if it would be better but no, day 2 of my new iPhone and the problems are still there. Is there something corrupt in my account?! I can’t work out how to fix it. I’m within 14 days of being able to cancel this new contract and honestly I don’t know how much more I can take of O2. Help! Thanks in advance, James

@James1uk

Try a new sim first. Pop instore with ID and they'll do it for you.

If that doesn't work....

We're just customers like you but it sounds as if you need someone to access your account which can't be done from here

Give O2 a call on 202 or 0344 809 0202 (Contract) OR 4445 or 0344 809 222 (PAYG)

Or you can message O2 on Facebook ( https://o2uk.co/O2CFB) , Twitter ( https://o2uk.co/O2CTW) or Instagram ( https://o2uk.co/O2CIG), hopefully they should be able to help.

Thank you!! I got a new SIM today and still have the same issues, the O2 helpline told me to try this forum but I’ll have a go with the Facebook thing and see how I go! Thanks again

Check your data apn.

If it is "idata.o2.co.uk" change it to "mobile.o2.co.uk" or vice versa.

Let us know if one works better than the other.

Italy has decommissioned its 3G infrastructure, so no 3G is to be expected, @James1uk

Sounds like 4g isn't enabled on your account.

Contact O2 to check Guide: How to find help & contact O2
