Hi I’ve just landed in Spain snd I’ve had major issues connecting to a signal
My phone is set to automatic network selection but it would not connect. I’ve shut it down and opened it up again but it still wouldn’t give me a signal. I eventually had to ask other people which network to connect to and select it before I could eventually connect. This has happened every time I go abroad can anyone suggest what I should do about this please.  Is this an O2 issue or an apple iphone14 issue.

Yes and yes.

If it works after changing the apn you need to call O2 to add iData to your account when you get back home.

It will be an iPhone issue
A few things to do,

Change the Network Settings to 4G as 5G isnt available for roaming.
Make sure Automatically connect to a Roaming Network is set in the settings

Make sure your phone is allowed to use Roaming Data

Hi there

many thanks for replying.

My phone is set to all those settings already but still not connecting.  I’m at the apartment I have for the weekend and now I’m on Wi-Fi but not able to get a satellite signal at all.

Some things to try:
1 - Reboot phone. (or toggle airplane mode).
2 - Manually search for a different network
3 - Change data apn to "mobile.o2.co.uk"
4 - Turn off 4g (use 3g)
5 - Check with O2 for any roaming bars.
If you message O2 on Facebook (https://o2uk.co/O2CFB) , Twitter (https://o2uk.co/O2CTW) or Instagram (https://o2uk.co/O2CIG) , they should be able to help you with this.

Thank you tried all that. My phone is latest iPhone so no option to choose 3G only 4G. I’ll try contacting o2 via social media - thank you

Thank you for your help.  I checked the apn settings and they are different.   Should I change all apn settings to mobile.o2.co.uk instead of idata.o2.co.uk and will I need to change it back when I get back to the UK.
thanks for your help
