Hi, I started a new contract with o2 from Tesco, I’m still waiting for my number to change over, (text says 7th). When I was in the shop the man said I can use my old sim until the changeover, but would my data etc still work if I used my old sim? I currently have the new one in my phone, but could do with using my old number so I don’t have to carry round 2 phones for the next 2 days.

@Carly13

You can use your Tesco sim and allowances until the 7th.

When the swap process starts, your Tesco sim will lose signal, so start using your O2 sim then.

You may need to reboot the O2 sim a few times for the signal to come on.

The SIM should work in the new phone, but probably not for very long as that SIM will drop out if service before the new SIM comes online, @Carly13

Guide: Migration & porting into O2  explains it all pretty well.

Check if old and new handsets both use nano or micro SIM, and swap and see. Do carry the new SIM with you so you are not left high and dry when the old Tesco SIM stops working 👍🏼
