Just to give you a flavour for how a "good" signal can vary in performance across a normal day, @LucyWalton-rees, I did some speed tests from the exact same place, indoors, at different times of the day, and with my phone stepped manually down to 4G and even 3G - the results may surprise you:

Note my upload (upward arrow) speed, to O2, was really quite poor (!) on 5G and 4G (LTE) until I stepped my phone down to 3G and back up again to 5G - and afternoon download speeds (down arrow) across the spectrum poorer than the 8am tests.

Your mileage may, as they say, vary - and @Cleoriff's answer above has the links you need to eliminate many of the common obstacles to a zippy data throughput on your phone. Good luck!

@pgn

It's interesting to note you stressing ".....exact same place, indoors.....".

My O2 data signal - 4G, PAYG - varies hugely depending on my location in the house, with upstairs having a far better signal than downstairs. Of course, that is why folks place 5G broadband hubs in the loft and also experiment with external aerials.

This is not O2 and we are all customers here similar to yourself and cannot answer account type queries.

@Enlli

I wouldn't like to experience your "bad" signal then !
