My niece has just put a pay & go sim into her phone. She phoned o2 to top up for first time and lady has asked for the phone number of the sim. Where can that be found?
BTW was trying to get answer from live chat but o2 advisor ended chat without answering query.

I'm not exactly sure why she started the sim swap. I'll get back to you on that one.
The monthly data allowance has run out and as she had an o2 payg sim that she bought from a shop ages ago, she decided to put it in the phone to see if she could use it for internet. There was no money on the sim, so it was only when she tried to use a top up voucher that she realised the problem of not knowing the phone number.

Ok so all that was needed was to buy an additional data bolton till the end of the billing period in my-o2
I hope the sim swap fails as that will cause more issues as the sim is not a pay monthly sim.
Is the old pay monthly sim still working?

Why not just purchase a data bolt on for the sim card she usually uses ??

The reason for not buying another data bolt-on is that she has already bought 3 this month costing £15. I have to pay the bill by DD, and her mum pays me in cash. She is on a tight budget and its quite stressful if I say this months bill is double what it would normally be if stayed inside allowances.
The new month starts on the 6th, so hopefully the original sim will carry on working.
I've just received this text from her mum. She went to the O2 shop.
"apparently that sim was a contract not a pay as you go sim. So the girl in the shop gave me a new pay as you go one. The phone number as you said was on the bit of card, but on the contract one it wasn't. Wonder if it had got rubbed off. Topped up £10 no problem this time"

contract sims are all sent out blank no number associated

I now rember this being asked about in another thread of yours.
How many mb of data is included in the current tariff and how much is the niece using?
I think this needs a bit of education and relasiation of the costs envolved to prevent this how you di it will vary on the access to wifi etc.

The current tariff data allowance is 1mb. She has used 1.85mb this month. I know there are other tariffs with more mb's but then the monthly cost goes up. I've also said to her about trying to use wifi whenever possible.

Your memory is correct, adam. It's this thread: http://community.o2.co.uk/t5/Pay-Monthly-and-Pay-Go/How-can-I-stop-one-off-data-bolt-on-being-added/...
@Jester88, you have been advised to put her on a Pay & Go sim. Why are you still allowing this abuse of what you are paying for?
I thought O2 had stopped allowing data if you go over your allowance? How has she been able to use more than what the tariff is?
