Sorry for repeating the question but I can't remember what I did last year when I arrived in Lanzarote and got a welcome text but data did not work only wi-fi? I can't remember if changed data to idata or o2 data and which worked. I would like to be prepared this year please.

That's nothing to do with iData.

Check your iMessage settings.

Settings>Phone>My Number

I-messages were working yesterday before I called o2 and now they are not

Try rebooting phone.

It's not an issue with iData

Reset your network settings too.

Does I-data bolt on expire and need to be renewed or is it permanent?

permanent - at least until something changes like an upgrade or new deal is signed
