internet bill is wrong

My latest o2 broadband bill for my laptop was due last friday on the 19th at midnight,i am allowed 3GB monthly data allowance,on the thursday checking this i'd used all my monthly allowance & had now used 0.07GB which was fine as my bill was due anyway & it was only slightly over, later on the thursday night after not using it for the entire day i checked my monthly data allowance again & this time it said i had used a whopping 15.9GB so i restarted the pc expecting it to reset itself & show up as 0.07GB again but it didn't then i shut down for the night,on the friday afternoon after my latest bill arrived my allowance was just 16MB as it would normally have been after just logging on,my bill this time instead of being the usual £30.00 is now for £195.00,i phoned o2 who didn't seem very helpful but said they'll look into it & to wait 3 working days in which they may text me which they haven't as yet & for me to phone back if they don't,i hardly use youtube or download anything or even look on porn sites,i tend to use the pc for emails, face book or just surfing the net occasionally

Does anyone know how my data allowance can jump from 0.07GB to 15.9GB in the space of about 16 hours?

Thanks if someone can help with this

Is this a laptop wireless data dongle?

Are you saying that on Thursday morning you had exceeded your monthly allowance by 0.07GB and on Thursday evening you had exceeded your monthly allowance by 15.9GB?

Can your laptop dongle transfer 1GB per hour?

How on earth can you have been hacked on MBB?
Or did you mean someone else used the dongle without you knowing?

I would assume he left his security open on the connection and some little so and so piggybacked onto his connection to surf/download on the net !

Surely that could only happen on wi-fi!

Re: internet bill is wrong

Most routers have wifi turned on by default.
Saying that the security should be turned on too.

No router involved here, the OP is about Mobile Broadband with a dongle, which connects directly to the GSM network which should be secure.
I don't believe they were "hacked" at all, someone else probably had access and used it without them knowing.
If it were used to connect to a wi-fi router that would have been free.
ps still puzzled why this question is in Pay and Go section, and not in Mobile Broadband!
