Why whenever I switch to sim only does my visual voicemail disappear? I asked the question before I took the contract but your man said he’d never heard of it before.

Probably because the don't add the correct iData bolt on to your account when they transfer your contract.
iData is required for VVM to work.

Call 202 or try live chat and ask them to add iData to your account http://www.o2.co.uk/contactus
