Using data in US

What is the easiest/cheapest way of using data in the US on a UK phone (that doesn’t wrack up huge bills?!) thanks for your help!

(I am on a monthly plan)

@Vetti Just to add to the advice @jonsie has given you, I'm fairly certain that the speeds you get roaming on O2 in the US aren't very good, so if you're planning on being there for a few weeks or more you might want to consider getting a US Pay & Go sim from T-Mobile or AT&T if you need a good data connection. You won't be able to make calls back to the UK with that sim, so you might have to swap back and forth, unless you have a dual sim phone.
