Transferring number to O2

Hello,

I have a complicated issue regarding phone numbers. I recently helped my friend transfer her phone number (ending in 66) to giffgaff, but I accidentally completed the transfer using my own giffgaff account. As a result, her number (66) overwrote my original number (67).

I have already contacted giffgaff and received a PAC code for the number ending in 66. I now need to transfer that number back to O2 (my friend’s original provider).

Could you please confirm if it is possible to transfer the number ending in 66 back to O2 using this PAC code, and if so, what the exact steps are to complete the transfer?

(Note: The account I am using currently doesn't have any phone number linked to it when my friend was using O2 they didn't have a account for O2).

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you.

@blendet

You need to speak to giffgaff as when you transfer the number it will cancel the plan they are on.

You will also need to either get a PAYG sim or a new contract and then port the number back, as the old account is closed as soon as you port out of o2.

All the information on porting can be found here Guide: Migration & porting into O2

Just order a free PAYG sim from here https://www.o2.co.uk/shop/sim-cards/pay-as-you-go and use the PAC to port back into O2.

Your giffgaff number will be lost though so you will need to address that directly with giffgaff.

Hello,

When I receive the SIM card how do I use the PAC to transfer the number? Is there a form I complete?

Thanks.

Bear in mind that if going to a contract on O2 there will have to be a credit check so PAYG may be the best bet at this stage

@blendet

There is a form here if needed https://www.o2.co.uk/help/device-and-sim-support/how-to-keep-your-mobile-number/online-form
