I have tried to upgrade online, to a tariff with a new phone.

I am only getting the option to upgrade to a SIMO tarrif, any ideas why?

Might be that you don’t have a good credit rating & need to build up a good history of consistent consecutive payments before you can apply for a pay monthly contract

I think only customer service or instore can override the upgrade. Not 100%

Customer service only.
Store would have to call customer service for an override.

I had the same problem for a while and spoke with someone on the web chat, my app and account was saying I could upgrade to a new fancy handset for free however this wasn't the case. 

 

My problem as I understood it was that I was a new customer on a SIMonly plan, I could "upgrade" to different plans also SIMonly, however I couldn't upgrade to a new handset.

 

Turns out my handset uprade date was roughly 3/4months into my contract, upon checking again on this date I'm able to upgrade no problems.

 

Call or contact someone on the webchat as I did for your handset upgrade date. Hope this helps.

Not if you are on a simo and looking to upgrade to a phone contract early. The dates in your MyO2 will be wrong.
