Thinking im leaving 02 - advice sought

Hi people,

After long hard deliberation I think im leaving 02. I have 2 contracts with them, but the new phones I want are much better deals with orange, cheaper contract/more minutes and data etc.

So I have 2 more payments left on my 2 contracts, 21st feb/march, but my new phone is released on 28th Feb. So I want to pay off my contracts on the 21st Feb to end the deal with 02, will I still have service until the 28th if I do that as I cant afford to be without a phone. Do I have to give 02 notice or me not renewing my contract?

And I need to keep the same numbers if possible for my business - im told to get a puk code or something, how will that work?

Im lost with all this and any advice is greatly appreciated slight_smile

Certainly sounds a better deal than what O2 are offering. Yes you would have to finish your contract with O2 and start a new one with Tesco. As they use the O2 network I don't think there would be any difficulty with your phone numbers, but you'd have to double check that with O2 and Tesco. What sort of deal are Orange offering? If it isn't any better, you're probably better off just moving to Tesco.

I Googled your breed. Nice dogs.

Sorry to but in, you'll have to get a PAC code to transfere your number from O2 to tesco still.
Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you’re wrong. So Ive been told wink

What you also need to consider is the coverage that Orange has in your area. Have you checked as to whether it's comparable to O2's?

No I wont, but thanks anyways slight_smile

Latest is I rang tesco who were pretty clueless regarding my position so I rang a guy at 02 on the "thinking of leaving us line" and he asked what Tesco were offering, so I told him, and he said they`d match the tariff but couldnt give me the free £50 tesco giftcards Smiley Very Happy But that if I did this option I wouldnt have 4 bills in march as my contract would continue. So I was going to go with that, IF I could do it then and there as I want this put to bed, and he said I couldnt as the phone isnt available yet and to ring back on the 28th and IF the tesco tariff is still there they`d honour that - but this means id lose my pre order £300 headphones.

So I said id buy through tesco, what did I need to do. He said place my 2 orders via tesco, when my phones come, wait 24hrs, then ring 02 and ask for my numbers to be transferred over to my new phones - they said this is done within 24hrs and is very simple at their end, all they do is create a duplicate account online for my new accounts, then send me a bill for whatevers remaining owing on my old numbers, once paid theyll be closed.

So this works out perfectly as I get to keep my current numbers constant, so it wont affect my business, I get to set up my new phone with the new sim so im not hanging around waiting, ive pre ordered so I get the free headphones (worth £300 x 2), plus I get a cheaper deal by £6 a month x 2, I get extra data (1gig vs 750mb), I get extra calltime (unlimited vs 900), I get tesco giftcards (2 x £50), and I get to stay with 02, whom ive had very few problems with over the years. Oh and 2 of the best phones yet to be created by mankind slight_smile

Cheers for all the help peeps

We budget for £70 a month mobile bills, even though our current ones only come to £40 in total, as the mrs always goes over her minutes, so its usually nearer £70 than £40. This month however she`s barely used her phone so it`ll be nearer £40, leaving £40 excess, which we`ll just pay off anyway, meaning march`s final bill will be peanuts Cat Very Happy
