Ok, bear with me as I'm a tad confused.
So, a while back we were talking about how a text gets turned into an mms if it's too long. That happened to me a couple of times, so i switched MMS off. Then a text would just get cut off if I went over the magic amount of characters.
Fast forward to the last week. I had gone over the character amount in a text but the recipient got the whole thing, no cut off. I thought, huh, I'll bet I get charged. But no, it seems I can now send super duper long texts that aren't converting to MMS (it's still switched off). So what's changed?
TIA.

Some phones will automatically change to a number of texts.
Both my old Z1 and my "new" G4 will do this. The G4 even tells me the number of texts it gets sent as and the number of characters remaining once it gets over halfway.
For example, once I pass half way it shows 120/1 which means 120 left on message 1. Once I pass the limit for one text it shows 240/2 meaning I am into text number 2.
Edit - too late to the party!
