Sim swap without old sim

Anonymous
Not applicable
I lost my phone last week so got a new one yesterday and got my old number on a new sim. It says it’s connected to the O2 network but it’s not letting me use texts or calls or data. It’s been over 24 hours since I got my new phone and I don’t know what’s going on.

Hi @Anonymous As your old phone was lost they may have put a bar on the account.

You should be able to activate the sim this way https://www.o2.co.uk/help/phones-sims-and-devices/activating-your-sim

"If your sim has been lost or stolen, you'll need visit an O2 store or contact us to block your sim and order a replacement. Once the replacement arrives, contact us to activate your new sim."

You need to call customer service and ask them to remove the bar on the account which would always be placed when a phone is reported lost or stolen.

@Anonymous Obviously you can't use your phone to call Customer Service, but you must be using a computer to post here, so if you have Skype or another VOIP you can call CS on 0800 032 1402, or use that number to call from a land line.
