I’m out of contact with O2 Uk but the O2 site on iPhone 11 deals is way more than others so I’ve found a deal on mobile phones direct but when I put in the pak number it won’t accept it and they are saying I’m still in contract but I’m not? Double checked I’m all paid up and out of contract can’t get hold of O2 for help so can I just buy a new contract with mobile phones direct on O2 and swap my original number over then cancel my original O2 contract without it all going ****** up!

Can't think why mobilephonesdirect can't upgrade you, as you are clearly out of contract. Your first bill after upgrade would include settlement of rolling contract and pro-rata on your new one, probably making it a bit more than normal.

But @jonsie and @madasaf1sh have given good info if you want to by new and get O2 to transfer service from old to new phones for you (call needed to O2 on 202 for that, and it is busy these days!)

Good luck, @Specialisedmark!thumbsup

Probably a better deal for a new contract rather than an upgrade @pgn as I think they get a better kick back for new customers...

Possibly - but even someone upgrading from a Refresh deal (ie, with O2) to an MPD deal on the same network is a "new" customer to MPD (one poached from O2!), @gmarkj.

In the current climate, if someone else can do the transfer of number/contract, rather than ringing O2 directly to do this, the upgrader can save a lot of time and hassle.

MPD seem to get much better deals, when cashback is factored in, on O2 than O2 themselves can, strangely. Such is the nature of Mobile "deals".

I hope your move has worked out OK, @Specialisedmark - and we see more of you on the forum.
