You can upgrade after 3 months as long as you have paid your bills in full and on time and you need to take out a Refresh contract.

You do need to call customer service before you go in store though, so they can authorise the upgrade on your account.

Just explain what you want to do and they will set your account status to ready to upgrade.
If not done, the store won't be able to process the upgrade.
