No Internet on iPhone XR -- what's the correct APN?

Hi,

For a few weeks now I've not been able to get any internet access on my son's iPhone XR -- fortunately Wifi still works as does calls and SMS, but have tried everything: replaced SIM, checked APN settings and refreshed network.  Apple ran dianostics on phone remotely and said there's nothing wrong with the phone and that data issues are quite common with O2 and probably a network issue, but it's been constant and had no coverage anywhere in the country.

Thanks in advance

Just seen on another post that someone's recommended changing the APN  to mobile.o2.co.uk -- currently I have it as idata.o2.co.uk ....could someone tell me what the correct APN is?

The correct setting is idata.o2.co.uk but that needs to have the idata bolt on to work correctly

What usually happens when changing tariff or upgrading they add the incorrect bolt on

Change the apn to mobile.o2.co.uk and if data starts working ok then call O2 and ask for the correct idata bolt on and then you would have to change the APN back to idata.o2.co.uk

idata is needed for visual voice mail.

Either will work to give you data when in the UK.

If outside of UK and you don't have iData enabled on your account, you need to change it to mobile.o2.co.uk.

Have you checked to see if there is any data allowance remaining for the month?

Yes -- I've barely used any (about 0.5 of 30GB allowance) because of this problem

Firstly, I would try the sim in another phone to see if it is account related or phone related.

If it doesn't work elsewhere, I'd ask customer service to check if data was enabled on the account.

So just by way of an update, nothing that anyone suggested worked. New SIM failed to work, existing SIM failed to work in staff member's phone in 02 shop, and even though this indicated the problem was not with the phone I sent it if for a recommended diagnostics check regardless. The outcome was that the phone required a fix, which I disputed due the the fact that any SIM for my number failed to work other O2 phones. Phone failed to work in any location (various UK and abroad) so I asked to cancel my phone contract two months early and asked for a refund for 3 months during which I was without data service without explanation. I am now with Vodafone and the phone is working perfectly with one of their SIMS but those lovely people at O2 credit referrals have put a black mark on my credit report even though O2 agreed to cancel any payments due on my account (I've posted separately about this). In short, O2 have provided the worst service I've had from any company in some time, and are lightyears from Vodafone in terms of quality service.
