So I have a couple of lines with 02 and with all this virus uncertainty, I have decided to try and pay off early. Now I remember when I took out the refresh plans, I was also given the option to pay for the devices in say 3 to 12 months but I chose the 36 months option as financially this was the best option then. Now is it possible when I am now months into the 36 months refresh to again change and chose to pay off in say 3 to 12 months of the remaining balance or the only option is to pay off the total device plan? Many thanks in advance.

@marvi0

You can pay as much as you like when you like. However your contract length would remain the same unless you are on a flexible tariff.

Of course if you paid the device off in full, you could cancel the airtime and move to a sim only contract.

Hi many thanks. Mine were taken after 22 March 2018 so it seems like I am on the flexible tariff. So what does this mean? Does it mean if I pay off device I do not have to keep paying the monthly tariff for 36 months?

Yes it means exactly that. Once the device is paid off, you can cancel the airtime and upgrade to a sim only. This means you pay a lot less for your tariff. Also by upgrading, you keep the same number and it can all be done online.

So if I pay off device and cancel the airtime, I do not have to take the sim only?

No you don't have to take the sim only @marvi0.  You would have to cancel your contact though

My 02 is telling me to upgrade and there is nothing to pay even though my contract ends mar 21. Do they take my current phone off me to cost this? Also it's it possible to upgrade through a third party with 02 upgrades? Any help appreciated

Hi @Drew79

The phone you have now is yours to keep, as long as you have paid it off.

You can upgrade through any third party though it won't be a Refresh tariff.

If you are happy with your current phone you could go for a sim only contract which would work out cheaper
