Hi, im currently overseas and will be for about another 10 months. I want to switch my monthly contract over to a PAYG as I'm not using the phone much, but want to remain with O2 when I return to UK (and have the same number).
I was charged £3 yesterday for a 19s phone call, so I'm wanting to change my tariff to a PAYG set up, keep the same number, not have to incur charges for calling back to the UK. Is this possible?

Two questions
Where are you?
Has your contract with O2 past its minimum term?
The latter question is most important as you will be required to pay the remaining months if you are not
I go PAYG will require a new SIM card and that can only be delivered to a UK address.
You would need to get that first before migrating your present number across

Thank you Enlli, that makes perfect sense. I'm currently in Uzbekistan. The contract is beyond the 12month mimimum, but I won't be back in the UK for quite some time so I guess I'm stuck with the old tariff for now. Cheers

Would occasional use of a local PAYG sim help you out?
Uzbekistan offers Pay-as-you-go (PAYG) SIM cards through its major mobile operators like Ucell, Beeline, and Mobiuz. These prepaid SIM cards are a convenient and cost-effective way for visitors to stay connected. You'll need your passport to register for a SIM card at the operator's outlets.
You can also keep in touch with friends and family using your O2 phone, with Whatsapp and Messenger over Wifi.
Just a thought.
