Cancelling Contract?

Anonymous
Not applicable
I am giving my 30 days notice to cancel my contract on the 11th Nov., as my contract ends on the 11th Dec.

What happens afterwards? Do I cancel the direct debit from 11th Dec. also?

Plus I want to keep this number but I will be taking out a completely new contract. So how do I do that?

You don't - It will continue as you are taking over the contract.

Take a look at the post above from MI5. You need the person whose name is on the contract to be with you. Make sure you both have the appropriate ID's.

I DO NOT WORK FOR O2

Sorry but I don't understand what you're saying.

I'm taking out a completely new contract in my own name. Therefore the direct debit will need to be cancelled.

O2 store told me it will cost money to change the name and possibly 4 weeks, so I'm not doing that.

I'm cancelling this contract completely. Then taking out a new one.

You can't take a new contract unless you cancel the old one - Unless you want 2 contracts?
You are already paying the DD, that is separate from the contract name.
Just change the contract to your name and then upgrade. Your DD will be adjusted to take the payment for the new contract....

OK, so it's very simple.
1 - Go to store with person who's name is on contract.
2 - Transfer contract into your name.
3 - Anytime after 11th NOVEMBER you can upgrade the contract (as it is now yours).
4 - Your current DD will be automatically adjusted by O2 to take the new payments.
NOTE: If you take a refresh tariff you will have to set up another DD to cover the phone payment as the airtime and phone are billed separately on refresh.
