Can I port my number away from O2 before contract ends?

I'm on a fairly cheap Volt deal (~£5/month), but would like to port to EE before my contact ends in a few months. I'm fine paying the £20 or pounds that I would have paid, but I want to be absolutely certain I don't lose my number.

Is this possible with O2?

Yes once EE have your number you will get a final bill from O2

However you will lose access to My O2 so don't cancel any direct debit until it has been paid

If you make manual payments be sure to call them

O2 will bill you, if you use Direct Debit it is automatic, for any remaining balance on the Device Plan components, if you are a Refresh Guide: How does O2 Refresh work? customer, and any final month balance refund in Airtime, as payments are always a month in advance. Note your access to MyO2 will cease also, so if you pay by card, you may want to be careful of that gotcha!

If your phone and tarrif was through a reseller, any balance to clear will be shown in the Upgrade section of your MyO2 or text INFO to 85075.

If SIMO, and outside your 12, 18 or 24month term, the balance to refund for your partial last month goes back into the DD account. Note also if you have VM service for broadband or digital TV etc, Volt benefits will cease there also, most likely at your next renewal date. Good luck, @nothingmatters.
