Can someone explain to me why I, as a long standing O2 customer, can't get any 4G in France? I just keep being told O2 don't support it, which is insane in 2017.... my pals in Virgin and Vodaphone are using the same French network and have no problems at all getting 4G. I'm told I now have the benefit of standard roaming charges abroad but using anything that requires data is nigh in impossible on 3G.....

O2 do not have any 4g roaming agreements.
You'll have to actually ask O2 "why"

Would it be some other reasons?

Inbound roaming to O2 UK network has the same problem.

Perhaps roaming on O2's antiquated systems on 4G would put too much strain on an already oversubscribed network? But I suspect it's all down to lack of money to upgrade their systems and to pay overseas networks.

@jonsie

I would say recent O2's LTE perofrmance is a lot poorer than last year, even slow access to Google Maps. What has actually happened within the last year?

Ok. I've just found something interesting and that's recently been updated. It's now in the terms and conditions

8.3 The 4G package allows you to access our 4G services in the UK and, where available, in our Europe Zone (excluding the UK), provided that if you’re on a data-only (Mobile Broadband) tariff, data can only be used in the UK.

So 4G is available in EU with o2. So what's going on then.

Terms been updated but but still nothing,  So is it coming?

Need Help, Just ask. We are one big Family here in the o2 Forum.
Use iPhone XS Max dual sim, SE, Honor 10, IPad Pro 11, Apple Watch 4 LTE, 100+ Mpbs Barrier and a Record Player.

We'd likely be the last to know if it was!
