£1 taken from my credit card?

Anonymous
Not applicable
So I ordered an iPhone 7 Plus from the Carphone Warehouse, on O2 for £40 per month.

Now I've had the phone for just short of a month, and I paid my bill early via my credit card just to manage my money a little easier this month.

However, yesterday I noticed in my pending transactions that there was £1 being taken out from O2, Leeds. And today that payment has come out.
I know it's only £1 but why? And why charge to my credit card rather than direct debit? I'm just curious as to what this is for..

Two possible reason but for both of them the £1.00 will be returned.

1. Sometimes a small charge is placed to verify a credit card is valid but is usually just an authorisation request.

2. The only other occasion I've seen this is to remove the adult restriction on an account, the point being that you have to be over 18 for a credit card thus proving you are of age.

To be absolutely sure what it is for you need to query this with CPW.

Was it the same card you paid for the phone with?

It'll be the adult content one I'll admit there. I like the odd bet here and there so I activated it using my credit card
