Whether to stick with my upgrade

I recently upgraded. Was told my total monthly bill would be £41, after recycling my old one for £205. Its not. My network bill is £41 and its £27 for the phone. Before I recycle my old phone I want to make sure I can do this

Your first bill may be higher for Airtime as they close old and start new... Could that be, @Kathybakes?
