SIM Swap Woes

Hello.

 

I have an old phone on its way out with an old (full-sized) SIM card so I have bought a new phone that takes a nano SIM.

 

I ordered a nano SIM from O2 and it arrived but of course needed to do a SIM Swap.

 

I tried this via text message and all the confirmations came through.

 

Two days later - nothing had been swapped.

 

I then called O2 who said the SIM swap hadn't been initiated and that they would do it.

 

Three days later it was done although the new number was transferred to the old SIM (so the wrong way around).

 

I've called O2 again yesterday using my landline (I see the O2 freephone number has gone so this cost me 45 minutes worth) and they said they would put it right.

 

They have now associated the new number with the new SIM (so back to as it was when it arrived), transferred my credit from the old number to the new and my old number has been totally deactivated (calling it says "this number cannot be recognised").

 

Basically I want: old number transferred to new SIM.

 

But now I have the problem of my old number being cut off. Can my old number of 18 years be:

 

a) reactivated?

b) associated to my new SIM?
