Re-enable an old SIM

I've had an O2 PAYG Sim in my phone for a few years but as I've not used it for some time it's been deactivated and the number no longer exists. The SIM is showing emergency calls only at the moment and ringing it gives a message that the number doesn't exist.

The O2 website says I can get it re-enabled although with a new number but it doesn't actually say how I go about this. Is it possible to do this online or do I need to call someone?

Speak to someone else and maybe they will be able to reactivate your number. But call rather than live chat.

Hi @AceBlaggard  , it would be interesting to hear how you got on. I tried this a couple of years ago but could not get anywhere at that time. The issue then was loosing the connected number which could not be allocated to me again. Maybe things are different now?

Sometimes it is possible and other times not. It all depends on whether the number has already been recycled or not and also possibly down to the ability of the agent you talk to.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

In many cases, it's down to the attitude of the adviser, some can be bothered going the extra mile but others just want to move on to the next call.
