I have already activated my sim card. I topped up with 10 pounds as it was required, but I still cannot make phone calls.

If your sim card is active as you say it is, the problem may be with your phone or the network locally.

Check the network here O2 Service Status and try your sim in another phone.

I cannot check the network because I am not in the Uk now. I tried my sim on another phoe and unfortunatelly it still does not work

So which country are you in?

It would have been useful to know that at the start............

Try manually searching for networks and choose a different one to the one you are on now.
