Issues getting a PAC Code

I have spent absolutely hours trying to get my PAC Code off of O2 but they, for some reason, seem either unable or unwilling to do so.

My initial plan had been to transfer my number from a monthly contract on vodafone to a pay monthly sim on vodafone. To do so I would need to transfer my phone number to a sim on a different network (in this case I chose O2) and then I could transfer it back to the pay monthly sim on vodafone.....because all these companies seem to specialise in making things difficult.

I managed to get the PAC code fine from vodafone and transferred my number to O2, however, now that I am on O2 I have been unable to get a new PAC Code to then be able to switch back again.

I have tried every single method under the sun to get the code, texting "PAC" to 65075, calling up the multitude of O2 support numbers, and visiting stores in person.

In texting "PAC" to 65075 I am greeted with a heart warming message:

"Hi, it's O2. There's been an issue processing your request, please try again later." along with them providing me with yet another support number to call ( 202 ), which believe it or not, doesn't even work!

In one of my many encounters with the support staff over the phone at O2, I was told on one occasion that my PAC Code was locked by Vodafone (??) and I would have to wait 28 days for it to expire, something which I then followed up with Vodafone, only for them to say that it is not the case, as my number is removed from their network and so they cannot control things like that (along with them saying that it's my right to have my number and so they cannot bar me from having it, I don't think O2 quite got the memo with that one!).

My final port of call was that on the website it said the code could also be requested through the My O2 app, but my luck falls short once again as I am then greeted by the message "Something went wrong.    Oops. My O2 ins't available to you yet."

And that is as far as I have gotten as of yet, if this all seem like a lot of effort to you now, just wait till you realise that I actually have no mobile service where I live, and wifi calling isn't supported on O2 pay as you go sims (something which I wasn't aware of when purchasing, but nevertheless shouldn't have mattered anyways), so I've had to be driving 15mins into town just to call them, or even worst of all simply get a 4 digit confirmation text!

I would appreciate all the help I can get with this awe-inspiring, mammoth of a task that is receiving a 9 digit code.

You need to wait 30 days before O2 can process a pac request.

Well I'm not sure what happened then, cause I have been doing this process alongside my brother and his seem to work fine. He switched to O2 and received a temporary number, two days later his old number switched over and then he could immediately receive the new PAC code and switch back to vodafone.

Additionally in talking with the staff at the O2 store I visited, they seemed to be unsure of the 30 day wait due to the 14 day return policy.

Thanks for the help

just did it online it was easy please anyone who is struggling follow the process below. i got mine straight away. Thanks and good luck.

MyO2 process:

1. Log into your MyO2. MyO2 sign in
2. Select the number you want to get the PAC code for.
3. Go to "More" in the nav bar at the top of the page, a drop down menu will appear.
4. Click update your personal details
5. At the bottom of this page is a "Thinking of switching from o2" section
6. Press continue on this section and follow the next steps, (may have to turn off your ad blocker). and you should get your PAC code if you have multiple devices through my o2.

More info from O2 can be found here https://www.o2.co.uk/help/account-and-billing/switch
