Can't access webmail

Anonymous

Yesterday I received several spam messages and since then my main o2 webmail hasn't been working. When I try (my usual way) to download my email through thunderbird it says "message store is unavailable" and when I log into webmail via the o2 web site it gives an error message.

Bizarrely I have another o2 webmail account and it's working fine.

Hope they extend the deadline or at least allow exceptions for the people struggling to retrieve their important information.

That's a good call, I've just emailed the complaints people. I hope that gets this moving.

I'd like to say a week on from raising a complaint there's been some action, but no they're ignoring me as well.

It seems the complaint dept doesn't address complaints, like the support dept doesn't do support. I wish they could just have been upfront from the beginning and said they weren't going to do anything, at least it would have saved my time and effort fruitlessly trying to get some action.

It is said a reputation takes years to build but just weeks to ruin.

Congratulations O2 you've acheived that, when I return to the UK I will not be using any of your services again.

O2 webmail accounts being randomly shut off for some people is another reason that they won't be missed too much.

I have to agree, it's best to get another email account now and leave O2 to do whatever they want.

So many of their services have closed down now I don't feel I can trust them any more to store my information.

We're definitely seeing a consolidation, now that the likes of BT and O2 are shutting down their "free for all" email services. The good thing is that the likes of Google and Microsoft have shown they can competently provide free ad-based services, as well as tying the email addresses in with a variety of cloud based services.

I suppose this was just inevitable to a degree.

It's a shame what has been happening to O2 over the last couple of years with Bluebook and it's replacement, broadband, email etc.

I thought some people would be happy that O2 are concentrating on their core business (mobile phones).

Well let's hope they do Oliver, they have decided to dispense with everything else.

One day we should get together a detailed list of all the services that have been withdrawn over the five years I've been with O2 and publish them here, I think a few people would be surprised at how many have gone!
