Both my son-in-law and I have Nokia Lumia 620 Windows phones and when we get a notification from voicemail (901) we are asked for a pin number.

We have dialled 901, used * and gone into the menu (4-4-2) selected "No Pin" and ended the call.  BUT next notification "please enter your pin".  A bit difficult when the phone is connected to the car and you're driving!!

Anybody got an answer as to how to do it?

Have you changed the pin from the standard 8705? Once you have changed the pin you should only be asked for it when accessing your voicemail from a landline.

Due to the hacking of people's voicemail that happened a few years ago, you must now set a pin.

I'm surprised you're getting an option of "no pin"!

Yes, we have personal pin numbers but we are still asked for a pin even though the menu confirms that we will only be asked when accessing from another phone

You should only be asked for a pin if calling from a different phone, not your own. Try 1760 to turn vm off then 1750 to turn it back on to see if it resets itself.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Just tried that, it  didn't work, but thanks for the suggestion. (I've also "reset" voicemail through O2)

Went to my local store last week for an appointment with an O2 Guru, and would you believe it, he could not make Voicemail "ringback" operate without the need to input a pin number even when in "settings" it was confirmed that it would not be necessary.

SO IF YOU WANT TO USE "Ringback" WHEN YOUR PHONE IS LINKED TO THE CAR AND YOU ARE DRIVING, YOU CAN'T!! - THE BEST YOU CAN DO IS SET VOICEMAIL NOTIFICATION TO TEXT, AND THE PHONE TO "SPEAK", AND YOU THEN RING VOICEMAIL (901).  WHAT A SYSTEM.

I've keep O2 complaints section up to date, and the Guru has kept the "case" open but as this has been going on since August, I don't think it will ever get fixed.
