Most of the bars have half a dozen ceiling fans but unless you are directly under one whilst it's moving 60 degrees in either direction, they run a poor second to a/c. It's always a cost exercise due to the electricity they use. But a/c is essential in the home.

Now I can understand that @jonsie, though every shop, bar, pub, restaurant, cinema etc has a/c in New York in summer. They'd be unbearable otherwise.

I can remember being in New York late March, years ago now, when it became unseasonably hot, in the high 80sC. It was too soon for a/c. Went shopping with a friend and I kept walking out of the shops because it was so close and uncomfortable. I felt as though I was going to pass out. But mum had a/c in the bedrooms, so we could sleep at night.

The only place I've welcomed air conditioning was in Florida. Not particularly in the Villas we rented but in the theme parks. When you could pop into a shop or bar just to cool down for a few minutes. Air conditioning affects me badly, if on constantly.

I wont even have it on in the car, much prefer to have all the windows open.

I think I must have something wrong with my body temperature system...upside_down

Quarter finals of Women`s World Cup kick off this afternoon with England v Norway.

England`s Ellen White could still take the Golden Boot as she is only one goal [+ two "assists"] behind US goal scorer.

Some people see things as they are and ask "Why?"; I dream of things that never were and ask "Why not?"

Kick Off 8pm @Mi-Amigo?

I will be flicking over occasionally to watch, though won't see the match from start to finish.

Best of luck to the Lionesses thumbsup

Berlin 37°C my son said, on the phone this morning. It's apparently been in the 30s for around three weeks. We celebrate one day of moderate temperatures here Smiley Indifferent

Must be the open waters sorrounding the islands, my friends came back rom there last week and said the weather wasn't brilliant. Which is surprising for June.

On a side note, England are 2-0 up but oh dear...Phil Neville!
