Pets?

Anyone have any interesting pets? I can't have cats or dogs as hubby is allergic so have snakes instead lol

Current, y have a cinnabee royal python and a butter pastel poss ghost royal python. Will upload pics from phone in a min. 

Just pre ordered a pewter female, coral glow male and a pastave female hehe xx

I'm torn on this to be honest. When William went missing a couple of years ago we got him back because of his collar - someone found him and phoned the number on the tag.  He was microchipped but I'm not convinced he would have been taken to the vet to be scanned.

Up until his accident in January Harry has always worn a quick release collar (he had some pretty funky collars, the red velvet and red glitter ones were my personal favourites!).  It was obviously removed at the vet and we didn't put it back on as he had a lump of wire sticking out of his chin and we were worried about it getting caught.  It's never gone back on and he has been naked ever since!

On a serious note, I don't know where people live, but I wanted to make cat owners in the South East aware of the M25/Croydon cat killer.  Some sicko (I can't call him what I really want to, I'll be banned) has been mutilating cats and other animals, but mainly cats.  He has struck a couple of times near me recently and although Harry has always been in at night, we make sure he's in even earlier now.  Please, please keep your cats in at night.

I have to say that happened to my second cat Riffraff...he hated his collar so much he went mad trying to get it off and got his back leg caught in the damn thing... Again I was on hand to extricate him (by ripping the collar off)

Even vets will tell you these so called flea collars arent a patch on the drops you put on the back of the neck...(Add to that... they MAY give some cats an allergic reaction...:smileysad:

@Anonymous some people are so sick they make me ill.... wherever you read it there are some real horror stories about animal abuse..Recently we had cats poisoned deliberately in an area by us. People may hate cats but they should never resort to these tactics. Sickening...

That's terrible @Cleoriff.  I really don't understand why some people get a kick out of hurting animals but each time I read about things like that I realise why I prefer animals to a lot of humans.  Harry doesn't roam thankfully but we are thinking of cat proofing the garden to keep him safe.  My husband wasn't keen to start with but has now come round to the idea.

I use Borderline on Marty, once a month, from the vets, its both flea & worm treatment combined, spot on the back of the neck / shoulder ... yes, flea collars imho are pretty useless

Marty does roam ... & ... he pees & poos outside only who knows where ... still have new litter tray with that which looks like minced wood in, for the 6 years I've had him, unused 

He does usually come in when I bawl his name, that is if he's had enough of a roam outside which can be a few hours

Harry has Advocate monthly and Profender quarterly.  He doesn't like it being done but just lays there - he's good really.

Can you believe Harry is having more gum problems?  I took him for his jabs last week and when the vet checked his gums they were inflamed again. Because of all the sedation he's had this year (2 general anaesthetics and 4 sedations in 3 months) the vet told me to keep an eye on him and take him back in 6 months for another check up.  She's expecting him to need another dental within the next year.  We've decided that, if he needs more teeth out (he lost 12 last time) we're going to say take out the lot to save him having to have more procedures.

My eldest cat had 11 teeth removed in one go years ago. He learned to cope...but his face is a little 'twisted' and his tongue permanently hangs out.....Will only eat food if it is chopped up small..

Harry still manages his biscuits and has a pouch for dinner.  He's got expensive taste and has taken a liking to Natures Menu Country Hunter.  Oh well, he's worth it.

His face changed shape when he had his teeth out, it's slightly slimmer and I think it makes him look younger and softer!  I've tried to post a picture but can't work out how to as it's on my phone.
