Beestops in Utrecht

I've just read about how Utrecht, a city in The Netherlands, has transformed 316 of its bus stops into bee stops! The photo above, and all the info I got, is from this article so head over there if you're curious to know more about this initiative.

In a nutshell, they've added green rooftops to those bus stops, which look gorgeous, help keep the city cool over Summer by storing rainwater, capture fine dust, but most importantly they contribute to the city's biodiversity, supporting insects like honey bees and bumblebees!

Would you be worried waiting for a bus at one of these stops, or would you be buzzing? wink

Have you spotted any similar great eco initiatives recently?

They seem to be enoying buzzing round me when I sit outside trying to read my book. Pesky little beggars!

In Rotherham there have been planted up several miles of verges with wildflowers

Rotherham's River of Flowers

So hopefully buzzy bees and other insects like butterflies will be attracted to the wildflowers

Hi @Anonymous
Very nice photo the wild flowers are really lovely. I was out and about recently and saw the same roadside flowers, councils must be trying this which is a great idea.
