Yes I know it's early but ITV have started to announce the contestants @Mi-Amigo and @sheepdog (and anyone else interested.

I've read that John Barrowman won't be judging this series. No news on who will replace him.

Today we have the first two contestants.

1) Sally Dynevor.

Sally has played Sally Webster on Coronation Street for 35 years. Aged 58. As I watch Corrie she is well known to me (lol)

2) Mark 'Bez' Berry from Happy Mondays

Already my favourite. Just love him. Mad as a box of frogs but apparently taking this seriously.

At least I know these two... I expect the rest will be announced over the next two weeks.

Thanks for info @Cleoriff

Says it all really. Those voting for Bez aren`t thinking about skill or ability but "entertainment" [for that read "being an idiot"]. Arlene might have a few words to say about him next week fingers_crossed

Thank you @Cleoriff for the list of songs they`ll be skating to this week.

tbh I`m not a fan of musicals but look forward to the how each of them skates and what the Judges` Challenge is going to be.

Can`t believe that Bez is gonna skate [skate ? who am I kidding] to Bat Out Of Hell. An insult to Meatloaf`s memory in my opinion.

By the time Bat out of Hell has finished, Bez may have made a complete circle of the rink. Whether or not that will be assisted or flat on his backside is another thing...

Sun 20 Feb - Musicals Week

Guest judge - Arlene Philips

Judges` Challenge - combination jump of at least two jumps unassisted

Regan & Katrina - Judges` Challenge flick and half axel [according to commentary]

Score = 45 [9.0 from each judge] - brilliant performance - second only to Kimberley; agree with judges score.

Kimberley & Mark

Score = 47.5 [9.5 from each judge] - best performance of the night; agree with judges score.

Stef & Andy

Score = 41.5 [Arlene scored 7.5; rest scored 8.5] - much improved; agree with majority of judges

Bez & Angela - two-footed Judges Challenge; too many distractions [bat-lift at end]

Score = 22.5 [Ashley - 4.5; Oti 4.0; Arlene 4.0; Jane 5.0; Chris 5.0] - don`t know what Jane and Chris are on;

agree with Oti and Arlene`s score

Kye & Tippy - good skate; Kye had never seen Oliver before.

Score = 43.0 [Ashley 8.5; Oti 8.5; Arlene 8.0; Jane 9.0; Chris 9.0] - agree with Ashley and Oti`s score - big improvement doesn`t deserve to be in bottom two this week.

Sally & Matt -

Score = 31.5 [Ashley 6.5; Oti 6.5; Arlene 5.0; Jane 6.5; Chris 7.0] - again don`t know what Chris is on - agree with Ashley, Oti, Jane - held on to Matt; assisted jump; held onto bed prop; too many lifts.

Connor & Alexandra -

Score = 40.5 [Arlene 8.5; rest 8.0] - good routine and jump but fell; agree with majority of judges.

Brendon & Vanessa - Vanessa replaced with Brendyn.

Score = 47.0 [Ashley 9.0; Oti 9.0; Arlene 10; Jane 9.5; Chris 9.5] - didn`t any of the judges notice Judges Challenge was assisted and held on to partner for much of skate? If others were penalized for that why not him ? As good as this skate was, no way did it deserve a10 from Arlene; not 9.5 from Jane and Chris, which shows, as I said before, he is Chris`s favourite. How can they think it was better tha Regan ??

The results - saved by public vote as announced

Kye; Limberley; Regan; Brendon; Connor; Stef

Skate-off

At long last, Bez and Sally in the skate-off. The publc have finally woken up.

All five judges vote to save Sally

Bez is out and going home.

Altho not a fan of musicals, I did enjoy the skating this week. I disagree with scores some of the judges gave to some celebs but am pleased that the best two skaters this week [in my opinion] - Kimberley and Regan will be skating next week....

Next week - Props Week

My favourite week. It`s going to be great to see how the celebs cope.

So Musical week usually ends being more of a Misery than musical. Here we go: Schofield still being shirtless, Willowby has only arm movement. Closing of the opening number more or less made tacky by the podium appearance of S&W obviously taped in to stop them moving.

In some kind of running order:

Regan: compared to previous weeks, I didn't think this was as good given the fast paced song and probably too safe. Stumbled again so needs to improve on this. Still miles ahead though.

Kimberly: found it boring for some reason though overmarked. Needs more skating parts on her own now that doesn't have a leg split or raised vertically. Goodness knows what Arlene was on about with women's lib.

Stef: got the performance aspect right and skating wasn't bad either. Probably undermarked but has a good consistency now.

Bez: For 10 seconds he actually skated by himself and looked like an improvement! True to form, that was it and judges finally noticed the distraction dancers were the attraction.

Connor: hmm, thought he did well bar the mishap. Judges didn't but still going forwards. Perhaps the choice of song wasn't a good one?

Kye: Needed a big number and produced his best! He enjoyed it and it showed.

Sally: no real progress and a pretty empty routine.

Brendan: No Vanessa but the routine was all the better without her (Brendyn replaced her). Almost perfect and showed him at his best. Scored 1/2 point less than Kimberly but in my opinion, best performance of the night.

And for once we all got the skate-off we all wanted: Bez V Sally! Being controversial, I would have actually saved Bez for skating on his own and should have had a bonus point for Angela falling down unexpectedly. Sally got pushed around so judges had no option really but to save her.  Last week is her last week. The gap between her and Bez was as big as it to the next person above her.

Only chance of surviving is against Stef and Stef has progressed too far.

Arlene Philips: showing us exactly why the BBC dropped her. Obviously watching something else as the scoring was bizarre compared to the other judges. Brought nothing to the panel so back to Loose Women it is to moan about it. Is the T-rex from last year available for a guest judge slot?

Two stand out performances for me and they were Brendan and Kimberley.

Regan is still making mistakes and his transistions aren't that good. He is either too fast or not keeping up with his partner. Excellent skater but missing something the last couple of weeks.

Kimberley Looks a real natural on the ice now. Loved her performance but a tad overmarked.

Stef I was a bit bored with her skate although improving

Bez. Poor as usual. Phil said it was the biggest (read expensive) production. All in an effort to mask how poor he is. Didn't work this week.

Connor Shame about the stumble but the judges make me scream. Connor stumbles and they comment that they would have marked him higher if not for that. The 3 high fliers stumble and the judges comment 'We know you stumbled but'.....and proceed to overmark.

Kye. Just loved it. Really pulled it out of the bag this week. Delighted he wasn't in the skate off.

Sally No real improvement. A nice distraction though with the two kids who got out of bed and did a little skate better than her. Matts excuse for holding her during the judges challenge made me cringe. 'A real national treasure so I couldn't risk it'!!

Brendan. Just superb. It wouldn't have worked so well had Vanessa been part of the routine. as it is the Jersey Boys lol.  Really surprised at Arlenes score of 10 as she hated Brendan on SCD. Routine of the night for me.

Pleased to see Bez gone at last. Hopefully Sally next week and then we have a competition on our hands.

Prop week next week.

Thank you @Cleoriff for the songs the celebs will be skating to this week.

I love Props Week - my favourite week [apart from the Final of course], so looking forward to seeing what the props will be and how they get on skating with the props to those songs.
