Recently transferred to O2 along with my original mobile number. Text are coming up with not delivered. Checked settings- phone and the number is showing the number allocated when joining O2 and not my number that has been transferred. Whilst it will allow me to change the number it will not save and reverts back

Try resetting your network settings, if not, you'll need a new blank sim from O2 and then do a sim swap Guide: Sim Swap: a mini guide 2017 update
May not fix the delivery report issue though as iOS16 always throws that error message with O2.
You need to precede your texts with *0# to get an accurate status.
